I spent the last night of a ski trip to Italy to a hotel at Venice Airport

  • I spent the last night of a ski trip to Italy at a hotel near Marco Polo, Venice airport.
  • The hotel was simple, but its ease for the city and the airport was a surprising thing.
  • Instead of spending my last sad night that the journey was over, I passed it by wandering through the Venice canals.

As practically everyone, I’m afraid of the end of a trip.

Hearting to realize that your time in a new destination is running out and that normal life will resume after you are back.

Beyond that, the task of returning home is often a crawling. Fall flights to the economy, early mornings and late nights, aircraft neighborhoods, packaging and packaging are all the tasks I despise at the end of a trip.

That was exactly the case for my last trip. After a week of skiing in the Dolomites mountain range of Italy, my friend and I had a 10-hour flight home to Denver.

However, our decision to spend the night at a hotel at the airport was a surprisingly positive end of our time in Italy.

I spent my last night in Italy at a hotel near Venice Airport

The day before we left Italy, my friend and I had dinner on a slow morning, packed the suitcases and ski bags and stuck them all into a small rental car. Then, we left Brixen, Italy, for the Annia Park Hotel – Our Lodge for the Night.

The driving was four hours long, and I reserved the hotel room because I didn’t want to add a long car to what would be a long journey day.

Instead, I wanted the trip to end easily. I didn’t want to worry about traffic or lost flights. I wanted a good sleep before I went to Italy. And after all, I wanted a relaxing evening to reflect while traveling.

Annia Park was surprisingly that.

Our room cost $ 180 for the night. It was basic with a comprehensive interior, simple facilities, a paid continental breakfast and 5 transfers to the euro airport.

While it was not a lush attitude, the property had its obstacles. It was just a five-minute car at the Marco Polo Airport of Venice, and even better, it would take only 15 minutes to reach historic Venice.

The main point of the hotel was its proximity to Venice

When I reserved my flights, it first felt like a lost opportunity to fly to Venice without ever getting into the city itself.

I would miss the narrow canals, colorful houses and marble bridges.

As my friend and I looked at our itinerary, we realized we didn’t have to lose the city. If we left Brixen a few hours earlier than it was originally planned, we would do it at the airport hotel with enough time for dinner in Venice.

My friend and I checked at the hotel at 5:30 am on the stomach. The hotel host described the ways we could enter the city. We could board a bus, he could call us taxi, or we could rent our car and drive ourselves.

We chose the latter, we did a quick search for parking lots and headed to the city.

By 6:30 pm, my friend and I was weaving the Venice channels instead of scareing the near end of our journey. We found a cozy dinner restaurant, swollen about Piazza San Marco and lost in the narrow alleys.

We had both visited the city before, so we didn’t think our time was limited. Instead, exploring Venice at night was a whole new experience.

After a long evening, we returned to our car, which cost $ 20 to park. It was cheaper than taxis and easier than getting the bus. If it had been during the day, we would have sprinkled in a water taxi from the airport for a real Venetian experience.

While finding a hotel in the city could have been cute, the comfort of the airport hotel won again. It was good to go back to Annia Park and to know the next morning, we were a short car away from the real end of our journey to Italy.
